The Gallery By The River
Art Gallery on the Eastern Shore of Maryland
The Gallery By the River is an extension of the Contemporary Tapestry Weaving Studio and Gallery showing work by specially invited international and national artists in the decorative arts. Located an hour away from Annapolis and an hour and a half from Washington DC and Baltimore, the Gallery is a popular attraction for visitors crossing the Tred Avon River by the Oxford-Bellevue ferry, the oldest operating ferry in the country. Visitors traveling by car or bicycle from Easton, Oxford and St. Michaels stop by to enjoy the unusual and varied presentations of high quality work in fiber art (including wall hangings and wall tapestries), ceramic, metal sculpture, and other media. Visitors are also welcome to see the on-going work on the big vertical loom, to experience first hand the traditional technique of hand-weaving large scale tapestries, and to enjoy the hand woven tapestries of Ulrika Leander.
